Big problems in the Gulf of Mexico with oil threatening coastal areas. Nothing they try seems to work. Our old earth suffers along, year after year, putting up with the many things man does to her. Surely something that they try will be the right answer. At this point, they now know what won't work! Booms to protect the shoreline are in hot demand, but we don't have nearly enough miles of them already made. Relief wells might help, but it takes a pretty good while to drill the things. I saw in the news that one area was collecting human hair to stuff into stockings to make homemade booms to collect oil….but the sweepings out of all barber shops in this hemisphere wouldn't be enough. Afraid it will just be a major problem for a long time for the ecosystem, besides British Petroleum and the other companies involved. Congress questioned the leaders of each of the companies involved….Of course each pointed at the others as being the ones at fault. Discovering the fault is not nearly as important as FINDING THE CAUSE. If we can find that out, then hopefully we shall not again have this monumental problem to deal with. We common citizens know nothing about drilling oil wells, but each time there is a problem, we are the ones who suffer, even more than the big oil companies. It is very evident that we need many hun- dreds of more miles of absorbent booms on hand at all times, not now for this spill….but rather for the next.
