More than 100 compete in fun run
MORE THAN 100 RUNNERS TAKE off for the annual Fairfield P.E. Warriors Fun Run held Saturday morning at the cross country track. Competing in the 5,000-meter event were runners ranging from five years old to 75 years old.
Doing what they did in cross county and track seasons, Fairfield high school twins Lando and Lilly Duarte won the overall top spots Saturday in the Fairfield PE Warrior Fun Run.
Lando Duarte turned in a time of 17:42 minutes over 5,000 meters to win the men’s overall crown and Lilly Duarte ran a 21:17 over the same distance to lead the women.
The Duartes, who are senior students, both qualified for state in cross country last fall and for region in distance events during the spring track season.
Well over 100 runners signed up for the annual event, competing for overall honors and in age divisions.
In addition to winning the women’s overall title, Miss Duarte was first in the female 11-20 division.
Cross country teammates of Miss Duarte picked up the second and third place overall and 11- 20 division spots—-Desiree Hodges was second in 23:09 and Katie Berger was third in 23:15.
Behind Duarte in the men’s overall standings were Felipe Rogers, second in 19:00, and Matthew Harris, third in 21:03. Rogers competed in the male 41-50 division and Harris ran in the male 11- 20 division.
Oldest runner to post a time was 75-year-old Jerry Biehl, who won the male 61-70 age group with a time of 43:29. Biehl also was the oldest runner in the entire event.
Youngest winner in the race was 6-year-old Kaden Crawford who posted a 24:48 in the male 1-10 years division.

Female 11-20—1, Lilly Duarte, 21:17; 2, Desiree Hodges, 23:09; and 3, Katie Berger, 23:15.
Female 21-30—1, Lia Frederick, 24:47; 2, Michelle Casey, 30:25; and 3, Sally Whitaker, 38:07.
Female 31-40—1, Sonoma Adkins, 28:00; 2, Amber Casey, 33:15; and 3, Kerry Hand, 35:15.
Female 41-50—1, Sheila Raye, 29:57; 2, Raz Cook, 37:37; and 3, Sandra Long, 47:57.
Female 51-60—1, Jill Merrick, 41:29; 2, Darlene Cockerell, 44:17; and 3, Andrea Lyles, 50:35.
Female 61-70—1, Sandra Biehl, 51:53; 2, Linda Monney, 54:30; and 3, Nena Albert, 57:07.
