Sheriff's Report Number 488- Deputy Travis Robertson, FEMS and JP Shirley Mays to Kirvin area, natural death while man working. Man jailed by DPS Purnell after finding he'd swapped registration on vehicle, DL suspended and No insurance. WPD Keithley to local gas station in Wortham, paid $41.00, got $174.00 worth. TPD Martin to keys locked in car at Teague gas station. What is believed to be a prank call comes from Butler area, girl says boyfriend trying to kill her, DPS Purnell and Dep. Shaw both to same, nobody present, just like previous calls from same area over last few weeks. THDEMS, TPD Martin and Cordova to diabetes problems, Loop 553.
THDEMS to J A Brooks, man passed out. THDEMS and TPD Reed to US-84, another man passed out, been drinking, history of brain aneurysms, carried to ER in Mexia. Hey, buddy! With that medical history you'd better drop down to nothing stronger than Kool Aid! Lady Driver IH-45, reports being harassed for 10 minutes by another Lady Driver, in a Volvo….Never mind, she just exited at FM-246.
DPS Leonard Sandifer arrests DWI Felony on Chestnut Street. Kirvin VFd and FEMS to FM-27, Lady with low vital signs. DPS Sandifer to accident, FM-1451. Report of stray hound on FCR-501 with tracking collar. Called TDC Boyd Unit….Nope, none of their hounds are AWOL. So, if anybody is missing a hound still by the time this comes out in the newspaper, give us a call, tell Dispatcher reported on May 2nd.
Funeral service for retired Mail Carrier Angus Kent McGilvary of Streetman. His son, Hoppy, handled most of the service doing a wonderful job of memories of his father. Another member of Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" who has gone from us. But, he lived a long and productive life, aged 95 years, born in 1915, two years before the U.S. entered World War I. Just think of the changes he saw in his lifetime!
It is with regret that I announce the death of Mr. Tom Duke, who was in the process of officially retiring from County service as a Jailer. A former Marine, restaurant manager, prison guard at San Quentin…a man with a vast number of stories and antecdotes. In failing health the last few years, but he kept working to insure the well-being of his wife and daughter.

THDEMS to West 84, Teague, baby fell out of high chair, struck head, turning purple, held breath…..no transport, believe he'll just have a sore noggin' a few days. Streetman VFD to grassfire, Mile 210, IH-45. Man passing out, Fisherman's Point. TxDOT informed of truck tire in road, Mile 212, IH-45. Deputy Shaw dealing with report of Missing Juvenile.
FPD Markham arrests Lady on McDonald, Assault Family Violence, one grown, other not. Lady on Oak street hears strange noises, FPD to same. FPD Tiner, Markham and DPS Purnell arrest drunks, Love's Parking lot. FPD Green arrests man on Outstanding City Warrants, to Jail. Property owner calls, found strange boat beached on his property. Local man owns boat, no luck contacting him, will keep trying. Game Warden Craig Hernandez working on same.
WPD Keathley to CEFCO, one vehicle backed into another. Fence problems, owner enroute, US-84. TPD Sykora to N. 6th, unwanted visitors. Subject in Drive-Thru at Teague DQ refuses to leave. Heard no more on this particular DQ Dude so assume he left. Needed rain accompanied by claps of thunder overnight in area. Power out in some residences.
Deputies Aldrich and Willis roll up on man trying to open his car door with a screwdriver, pulled up to same in Rest Area. Yep, said he'd locked his keys in his car and got out. Closer investigation reveals multiple bottles of pills, some of which he had no prescription for, to jail, Possession of Controlled Substance. Deputy House arrests motorist on warrant out of Smith County. TPD Martin jails another, Traffic Warrants out of Fairfield and Teague City Courts.
TPD Martin, Cordova and Dep. McGowan to Maple, reported fight in progress. Deputies Shaw and walker to missing generator from pasture on Cowart Street, Donie, taken sometime in last week or so. TPD Martin to report of burglary on Howard. WPD Keathley to people trouble, Raleigh Street. Loose Shetland Pony, FM-3059. Donie man receiving threats from another in Houston. TPD Noll arrests man on City Warrant for Disorderly Conduct.
911 from Jewett bounces in, troubles at RV Park in same, Leon Co. advised. Deputy Diana Willis on report of multiple valve handles stolen in Donie area, more of same in Limestone County, same night. FEMS to FCR- 101, Lady keeps fainting. DPS Putz to accident, FM-27. Emergency call from Jordan Health Service, Lady just walked into their office, believed having a heart attack, THDEMS to same. Diabetic man, age 48, feeling woozy, unstable, FEMS to same.
Trucks logjammed at Love's, FPD advised. Dump truck blocking alley, Monroe, TPD to same. Structure Fire in Tucker bounced in, transferred to Anderson Co. S.O. Dog troubles on FM-80, Pit Bull jumped on Lady's dog, Dep. McGowan to same, Animal Control contacted and advised. FPD Kindon jails man with Fictitious Registration, had altered a 3 to an 8. Young Lady transported by FEMS from Tanglewood to ER, took overdose of Hydrocodone. TPD Sykora jails DWI with Open Container, US-84.
THDEMS to Bateman, man passed out, too elderly to be left alone apparently, had been on his knees, couldn't get up, so long that his feet and knees very swollen due to poor circulation. THDEMS to S. 8th, chest pains. FEMS to Faircrest, 88 year old Lady with breathing troubles. Also carried another to Palestine Reg. Hospital from Butler area.
Commissioner Clyde Ridge advised of tree in road, FCR- 930. Deputies, Southern Oaks VFD and FEMS to Fisherman's Point, doing CPR on man still in water. Deputy Richard McGowan to Jail with Lady under Writ of Attachment out of Dallas County. FPD Frasier and Matejowsky in with another, City warrants. TPD Sykora jails man from Dap's parking lot, one King-size Mary Jane cigarette. DPS Putz to Jail with another driver, out of County Warrant. This Warrant was one rarely seen in our area, Manage a Prostitution Enterprise.
Deputy Robertson assists disabled motorist at Rest Area. Teague VFD and TPD sykora to smoke in business on Main. Also to abandoned vehicle in middle of highway. Husband drinking, causing troubles on Chestnut, parties separated for night by TPD Sykora, Martin and Brewer. Also, these Officers, with THDEMS to attempted suicide by ingestion of pills on S. 5th, with suicide note, rushed to ER in Mexia. Deputy House to possible prowler, PR-1175.
Deputies Willis and Aldrich jail man on Felony Kentucky Warrant. FEMS to Jail, female Inmate passed out. Fairfield VFD to FCR- 231, car afire in yard. Deputy House to Loud Music, FCR- 502. TPD Martin to report of missing Air Conditioner, found, returned. Deputies Robertson and McGowan to report of man struck by wife with fishing pole, Kirvin. More missing cows, FCR-1151, but located in relative's pasture, not stolen.
Deputies McGowan and House arrest motorist on West 84, about one quarter pound of Mary Jane and over $2,300.00 in cash seized, to Jail. From all appearances, up until arrested….Business had been good! Teague VFD, THDEMS and TPD Martin to Webb, man passed out, struck head, Doctor Chopper flew him to Tyler. FEMS to Boyd Unit, Inmate with seizures. FPD to Texas Burger, trouble with customer, apparently acting like he needed a good paddling over the backsides with Annie's biggest spatula! That'd warm him up and get his attention, too! Dep. Shaw to loose horses, FCR-751. More on FCR-482.
FPD Markham arrests DWI, US-84. DPS Adams arrests motorist on Harris County Warrants. Dep. House to report of prowler on N. Ireland in Streetman. Lock cut, horses loose, FCR-232, Deputy Harrison to same. DPS Adams, Teague VFD and THDEMS to accident, US-84. Animal Control picks up dog on Maple. TPD Howard to Loud Music on Spruce. Loose cow, US-84, TPD Reed to same.
DPS Purnell jails DWI, asleep in middle of Service Road, motor running, foot on brake. Male and female on motorcycle in Teague, running stop signs, No lights turned on, ignored siren and red lights, drove across a yard and on a sidewalk while being pursued by TPD Sykora, both in Jail now. TPD to Ash, 50 year old female causing problems. Dew VFD to FCR-671, need help getting off floor.
Deputy Robert Elom to cows in man's yard, FCR-341. Fairfield VFD to grassfire out of control, FCR-606. Say folks, once again it is getting DRY. Be careful with those fires. Our Volunteer Firemen don't need any additional practice! They've got the trucks and equipment now, but let's not make them leave their jobs or houses to come out and put our fires out, just because they've got the stuff to do it with! Remember…..They get no salary!
Dew VFD and FEMS to IH- 45, work crew member with chest pains. THDEMS to US- 84, wife with severe leg pain, carried to Waco. Deputy Aultman to items stolen from vacant residence, FCR-477, baseball cards and bed. Suspect identified, will be presented for prosecution.
I did not get to attend but understand their was a big turnout at Caney Baptist church for their Fish Fry. A very large crowd on hand at the VFW for Senior Citizen Appreciation Day. A fine catered meal from Sam's, lots of singing with Carla Sessions and her children, Kathy Early did a great job as M.C, and that red hat worn by Kathy's Helper, Robin Burnet…..Took the show! VFW Post 5872 was nearly packed to capacity. Thanks to them for furnishing the meeting place every year.
