Lady Eagles named to All-District

Nine members of the 2010 Fairfield high school Lady Eagles softball team receive All-District nods this spring.
All-District selections were announced after the Lady Eagles bowed out of post season play Thursday evening in the area round against Lufkin Hudson.
Athens fell to Robinson at bi-district and Brownsboro lost to Groesbeck, also at bi-district.
The Lady Eagles posted a 9-1 record to win the District 20-AAA championship title.
Named district offensive player of the year for her at-bat skills is Fairfield senior catcher Becca Lyles.
This is the third consecutive year that Miss Lyles has made first team in softball— she was All-District catcher in 2008 and 2009.
She also made honorable mention in volleyball last fall.
Named first team first baseman is senior Riley Jo Davidson.
Miss Davidson was honorable mention designated player in 2009 and in fall was named volleyball honorable mention.
Selected first team shortstop is senior Kayse Kirgan, who alternated time at shortstop and pitcher for the Lady Eagles this season.
As a junior and sophomore student, Miss Kirgan earned first team honors at second base, and was second team All-District at second base her sophomore year.
Miss Kirgan also is first team setter for the Lady Eagles volleyball team.
All-District outfielder Mia Mayo played centerfield for Fairfield this spring.
Earlier this year Miss Mayo was named to the district honorable mention list in basketball.
Earning first team honors as designated player is freshman player Katie Berger.
Fairfield junior pitcher is second team All-District player this spring, sophomore Lindsey Ranson is second team at second base and senior Jessica Gallegos is second team outfield.
Getting an honorable mention nod from district coaches is junior outfielder Felicia Lopez-Simmons.
