Christine Scarborough Wynne

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Wynne, 90, were held Sunday, May 2, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Kirvin. Rev. Rick Scarborough officiated. Interment followed the service at Shanks Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wynne passed away Thursday April 29, 2010, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.

She was born in Freestone County to Joseph and Nina Ruth Goolsby Freeman.

Mrs. Wynne lived in Houston for many years before returning to Kirvin in 1980. She worked as a kindergarten teacher at Uvalde Baptist Church in Houston and also as a medical aid for numerous nursing homes for many years.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, working with children and working with the elderly. Mrs. Wynne was a member of First Baptist Church in Kirvin for almost 30 years and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.

Mrs. Wynne is survived by her husband, Ellis Wynne of Kirvin; son, James “Bo” Scarborough and wife Pat of Kirvin; two daughters, Patricia Welborn and husband Jimmy of Houston and Charline Mills of Kirvin; three step-sons, Michael Wynne and wife Betsy of Plano, Robert Wynne and wife Karen of Plano and Mark Wynne of Cedar Hill and their families;

Six grandchildren, Joseph Harold Scarborough, Tonjia Lisa Scarborough, Sandra Ann Melton and husband Connard, Sheri Bullard and husband Rick, Donnie Midkiff, Jr., and Jennifer Smith;

Ten great-grandchildren, Brooke Arren Scarborough, Kristopher James Scarborough, Madison Scarborough, Kelley Currie and husband Brock, Trenton Bullard and wife Tina, Courtney Burnett, Gail Connard Melton III, Matthew Ray Midkiff and wife Cheryl, Daniel Midkiff, and Lena Smith; two great-grandchildren, Marvin Brock Currie and Madleyn Michelle Midkiff; two sisters, Pat DeVillier and husband Frank of Simsboro and Bonnie Fulcher and husband Bobbie of Shanks; one brother, J. B. “Buck” Freeman of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wynne was preceded in death by her husband, Joe James Scarborough; and two grandchildren, James Edwin Scarborough and Lorrie Ann Midkiff.
