Attended meeting in Waco on new Immigration Policy, via computers, on tracking those jailed. Voluntary at present, mandatory for every County by 2013. Decided to jump on the bandwagon early with many other Counties. And no, the laws have NOT changed, local officers still cannot legally enforce any type of Immigration Law. Much in the news the last few weeks about new State Law in Arizona, but this is a completely different kettle of fish. New computer system being installed at several County Offices causing many little questions. Hopefully will have these new questions whittled down in next few days and have a better overall operation. Gone are the days of a lead pencil and Big Chief Notepad! Besides changing many formats, probably a key change will be the beginning of Computer Assisted Dispatch or CAD. This forms a computer memory bank for every call which will greatly add to Officer Safety as entries are made, ready for recall at later dates. The longer it is in use, the greater the memory bank on particular addresses/individuals.

Folks, our Nation is in an epidemic concerning illegal narcotics. It is inconceivable to me that our nation should have the rampant problems with illegal narcotics as we do. It is not local, nor state….It is NATIONWIDE, every community in our great Nation. Officers are filling their jails daily with arrests. We are no exception in our County. Something has gone dreadfully wrong with the way we have raised our children over the last three or four decades. Too many single parent homes, not enough after school jobs, too many hours in front of a television, too many grandparents having to step up to the plate and raise their grandchildren, too many things given without having to earn them, parents who just don't care…..!
Deputies McGowan and Robertson arrest man at residence on FCR-497, Hot Check warrant, then found that Fairfield PD had three more on him.
Congratulations to Billy and Beth Beene on their 50th wedding Anniversary. Saw both on the day before. Could not attend their Reception due to a conflict but understand the old camphouse was packed. As well it should be. And where was I? Across the River in Anderson County at Blackfoot attending my wife's Annual Family Reunion. Pretty interesting spot. An old cotton gin, revamped into a meeting place for up to 40 people, central air, old displays, enjoyed by all. Probably the best spot the Jackson Clan has met.
This is the best time of the year. The temperature is perfect and everything is green. The Good Man Up Above knew what he was doing when he gave us Springtime!
Until Next Week . . . RALPH BILLINGS
