Grand jurors hear charges
A Streetman man arrested recently on cattle theft charges was indicted last week by the Freestone county grand jury.
Indicted on two separate theft of lifestock charges was Audy Elmer Lopes, 26.
The indictments allege thefts of cattle from Nelson Slaughter on Feb. 8 and James Morgan on March 6.
Lopes was arrested after an investigation by Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and Freestone and Navarro county sheriff’s offices.
The grand jury indicted nine persons on 11 charges.
Complaints include possession of methamphetamine, aggravated assault, burglary, assault, theft of livestock, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and theft of copper cable.
Also indicted last week were:
—Justin Floye Ellison, 33, of Hubbard on a Feb. 28 charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—Alonzo Nolan, 53, of Fairfield on a complaint of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, allegedly pointing a knife at Bessie Nolan, on March 26.
—Shay Elliott Dixon, 19, of Teague on a Feb. 12 complaint of possession of methamphetamine.
—Christopher Michael Thornton, 31, of Teague on a charge of burglary of a habitation, the residence of Toki Jones, on March 20.
—Robert Lavane Jones, 39, of Teague on a Feb. 20 charge of felony assault, allegedly choking Lori Ann Jones.
—Adam Benjamin- Cornell Sereda, 19, of Dallas on a complaint of possession of methylenedioxy on Feb. 19.
—Adam Benjamin- Cornell Sereda, 19, of Dallas on a complaint of possession of heroin on Feb. 19.
—Jose Alberto Hernandez, 24, of Carrollton on a Feb. 28 charge of possession of cocaine.
—Tracy Wayne Hipp, 42, of Canton on a charge of theft of copper cable on March 19.
