Eagles track team runs Ferris meet
Running at less than full strength, the Fairfield high school Eagles track teams got in a final meet last week at Ferris before they host the District 20-AAA meet this week.
Eagles varsity thinclads finished fifth at Ferris last Thursday and the junior varsity squad took sixth. There were nine schools represented.
Claiming the lone gold medal for the varsity Eagles was Jay Roberson who cleared 13 feet, three inches to win the pole vault. Teammate John Horton cleared 12 feet for second place.
Placing second in the 1,600-meter run, in a time of 4:42.93 minutes was Lando Duarte.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Rudy Castillo, Caleb Shannon, Willie Tatum and Anthony Price posted a time of 3:33.49 for second place.
In the jv division, Adam Jones won the discus with a throw of 111-10.
Second place in the jv high jump went to Hayden Hill, clearing the bar at 5-6.
The district meet is set for Wednesday and Thursday at Eagle Field.

High jump—4 (tie), Anthony Price and Willie Tatum, 5-8.
Pole vault—1, Jay Roberson, 13-3; and 2, John Horton, 12-0.
