Services were held Tuesday for Frieda Scruggs, 93, who died April 10 in Fairfield.

Pastor Eston (Buddy) Turner officiated at the service, held at Fairfield Christian Center.

Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel. Visitation was Monday.

Mrs. Scruggs was born November 20, 1916 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma to parents John W. and Elizabeth Fast Goebel. She had been a Freestone County resident since the early 1950’s.

She married Clarence Scruggs on May 28, 1954. She was a faithful member of Fairfield Christian Center.

In addition to her parents, Frieda was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Richard Golden, Ronnie Richardson, James Gunter, Jerry Carter, Tommy Campbell and Newman Scruggs.

Mrs. Scruggs is survived by her husband, Clarence Scruggs of Fairfield, sons John Scruggs and Jerry Scruggs and wife Cyndi all of Fairfield, sister Ruth Stone of Hollywood, Florida, grandson Neal Scruggs of Fairfield and four nieces.
