The Fairfield high school Lady Eagles varsity track team totaled 221 points Saturday to easily win the Westwood Relays hosted by Palestine Westwood.

En route to the meet victory, the Lady Eagles claimed gold medals in eight of the 17 events.

Second place went to John Tyler, 176 points, and host Westwood tallied 69 for third. There were six teams competing.

Picking up a pair of gold medals was distance runner Lilly Duarte, winning the 1,600-meter run in 5:30.8 minutes and the 3,200 in 11:57.

She also teamed up with Barvion Wyatt, Shelby Wickens and Derekia Coleman to post a time of 4:15.8 and win the 1,600- meter relay.

Miss Coleman, the defending state Class AAA 200-meter champion, also won two individual events. She was clocked at 25.9 seconds for first in the 200 and 12.5 for first in the 100.

Rounding out the sprints, Barvion Wyatt claimed the 400 in a time of 62.9.

First place in the 300- meter hurdles went to Kathleen Chappell who ran a time of 50.8.

In discus, Kalyn Caffey posted a throw of 107 feet, four inches for the gold.

The Lady Eagles swept the pole vault—-Desiree Hodges was first at 7-0, Katie Berger was second at 6-6 and Ashley McGowan was third, also at 6-6.

Fairfield also fielded a junior varsity team which finished third with 79 points. The jv division was won by Westwood, 186 points, and John Tyler tallied 104 for second.
