Lady Eagles thinclads at Fairfield junior high school posted some top performances recently at the Jerry Ives Relays in Elkhart.

The meet was run March 26 as the final tuneup to district competition three days later.

Eighth grade FJHS athletes won five events and the seventh grade won four.

The distance events were the strongest area for both squads.

In the eighth grade 2,400-meter run, Peyton Pierce claimed gold in a time of 10:09.1 minutes, Jesse DeVries was second in 10:10 and Morgan Carevic took third in 10:10.8 for a sweep.

Picking up the gold in the 800-meter run was Megan Hodges, posting a time of 2:46.6.

Miss Carevic ran the 1,600-meter race in 6:26.8 for first place.

First place in discus went to Sam Walls for a throw of 64 feet, eight inches.

The 800-meter relay team of Kayli Banks, Misses DeVries and Hodges, and Karonesha Lowery posted a time of 2:03.2 to win.

Fairfield seventh grade thinclads swept the 2,400- meter run—-Sarie Hill was first in 10:29; Brooke Johnson posted a 11:01.3 for second and Nicole Pruitt was third in 11:13.2.

Claiming the 800-meter run in a time of 2:48.8 was Jaida Smith.

The seventh grade also swept the 1,600-meter run—-Miss Johnson was first in 6:50.7, Miss Pruitt placed second in 6:58.2 and Gloria Thomason was third in 7:07.4.

Winning gold in the pole vault was Brooke Johnson, clearing 5-6.
