Fairfield golfers play tourneys
Golfers at Fairfield high school recently played the China Spring golf tournaments at Lake Country Club.
The boys played in early March and the girls played March 22.
Fairfield boys finished 12th with a team score of 450 strokes.
Gatesville I and Glen Rose posted matching, low team totals of 309.
Medalist honors went to Hunter Blanks of Glen Rose on an 18-hole round of 71 and teammate Austin Jordan was second medalist with a 72.
The Fairfield squad was paced with a 99 carded by Cory Jumper.
Other FHS boys’ scores were: Ty Ezell, 103; Thomas Schlabra, 107; and Adam Rhoads, 141.
China Spring won the girls’ competition with a team score of 348 and Midway Blue was second at 351.
Fairfield did not field a complete team in the tourney.
Medalist Alyssa Smith of China Spring shot an 82 and teammate Katie Christian carded an 84 for second medalist honors.
Fairfield girls’ scores were: Sarah Rhoads, 131; Hannah Worley, 131; and Brie Woody, 140.
