Glenn Whiteside
Services were held March 27 at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield for Felix Glenn Whiteside, 70, who died March 23.
Interment was at Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Whiteside was born September 16, 1939 in Fairfield to William and Vida Whiteside. He spent his childhood in Fairfield before moving to Dallas to start his career with Dallas Power & Light as a lineman.
He transferred his family back to his hometown of Fairfield in 1971 to work for Texas Utilities. He retired from TU after 38 years of service.
Mr. Whiteside was active in the community especially in the youth sports leagues. He helped coach the 1978 Little Dribblers to a national title win.
He did not stay retired long before taking a job with Warfab as a master high voltage electrician refurbishing draglines. While working at Warfab Mr. Whiteside had the opportunity to utilize his vast experience in mining equipment as he traveled across the country working at various mines. He was known as "Mr. Whiteside" in the mines located in North and South Dakota, Montana, New Mexico and Texas. He enjoyed helping others gain the knowledge he possessed and was always a known as a consistent and hard worker.
Mr. Whiteside was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend and enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. His favorite saying was, "it is going to be alright" and that was normally the case. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Whiteside was preceded in death by his father, William Whiteside and wife, Mae Dell (Keaton) Whiteside and Father-in-law, Dick Keaton.
He is survived by his children, Amanda Lee of Justin and Wendell Whiteside and wife Christine of Trophy Club. His granddaughter Meagan Lee of Justin, mother Vida Whiteside of Fairfield, brothers, Douglas Whiteside of Cuba, Mo., Fred Whiteside of Fairfield and Randy Whiteside of Fairfield;
Sister Joyce Guest of Houston, mother-in-law, Beatrice Keaton of Corsicana, numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Neal Baker, Preston Bonner, Buddy Aultman, John Ashley Sanders, Dick White, Lamar Robertson, Russell Keaton, and Jason Guest.
