Lady Eagles track teams at Fairfield junior high school placed second in the seventh and eighth grade divisions at a meet run in Athens last week.

Six area schools entered teams in the meet, including four from District 20- AAA.

Fairfield eighth grade thinclads won five events on their way to the second place team finish.

In the 2,400 run, the Lady Eagles swept the top three places, with Peyton Pierce posting a time of 10:33 minutes for first, Zan Bricker in second at 10:59 and Cinthia Hidalgo taking third in 11:21.

The FJHS team also swept the 1,600-meter run—-Morgan Carevic was first in 6:15.1, Miss Pierce placed second in 6:28.8 and Savannah Robinson finished third in 6:54.

Distance runner Megan Hodges won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:41.9.

Lady Eagles hurdler Karonesha Lowry posted a time of 19.85 seconds to win the 100-meter race.

In field events, Sam Walls threw the discus 62 feet, 10 inches for the gold medal.

Fairfield seventh grade thinclads also won five events.

Winning a pair of gold medals was Jaida Smith, first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:50.5 and first in the triple jump with an effort of 25-10.5.

Long distance runners Sarie Hill and Nicole Pruitt picked up a win apiece—- Miss Hill claimed the 2,400-meter race in 10:13 and Miss Pruitt won the 1,600-meter race in 6:44.2.

Pole vaulter Brooke Johnson cleared the bar at 5-6 to win the event.
