Fairfield junior high school Eagles thinclads claimed a pair of team wins last week at a track meet in Athens.

The meet included seventh and eighth grade teams from six area schools, including four from District 20-AAA.

Fairfield seventh grade tallied 157 points to win their division and the eighth grade team scored 188 points for first place.

En route to the seventh grade team title, the Eagles won three events.

Claiming a pair of gold medals was Raheem Hayes, winning the triple jump with an effort of 30 feet, one inch, and taking the 2,400-meter run in a time of 9:06 minutes.

In long jump, Michael Gibson gave a gold medal performance for the Eagles when he covered 15-5.

Helping the FJHS eighth grade to its team win were eight first place performances.

Earning three gold medals was Donald O’Brien—-first place in the 800-meter run in 2:21, first in the pole vault at 8- 0 and first in the 1,600- meter run in 5:41.6.

Two event wins were claimed by Larry Rose, clearing the high jump bar at 5-9 and running the 400-meter dash in 56.87 seconds.

Rose teamed up with Chris Lide, Cade Warren and Bryson Gates to post a time of 47.91 for first place in the 400-meter relay.

Gates doubled up by winning the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.53 and Keil Meredith won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 48.93.
