The Fairfield junior high school eighth grade Lady Eagles won their division and the seventh grade squad was third in the Fairfield Invitational track meet held at Eagle Field last week.

Eight area schools were represented in the meet.

FJHS eighth grade thinclads tallied 168 points to outpoint the competition, with Palestine Westwood scoring 134 points for second place and Mexia earning 128 for third.

In the seventh grade division, Westwood earned 148 points for first place, Teague tallied 137 for second and the Lady Eagles scored 117 for third.

En route to winning the eighth grade meet, Fairfield won gold medals in four events.

Picking up two event wins was Megan Hodges, first in pole vault at six feet, six inches, and first in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:42.67 minutes.

FJHS swept the eighth grade 1,600-meter run—- Peyton Pierce was first in 6:29; Jessie DeVries placed second in 6:32 and Miss Hodges took third in 6:46.

Claiming gold in the 100-meter hurdles was Karonesha Lowery, posting a time of 18.94 seconds.

The seventh grade team picked up a win in the 2,400-meter run when Sarie Hill completed the race in 9:56.
