Oakwood plans community garden Planning party for Oakwood’s second annual community garden, “Project Save-a-Life”, will be held March 20 at noon. Hosted by the C.H.A.N.G.E. youth center, the project will be held at the same location as last year, next door to the Miracle Church at 1544 W. Broad St. in Oakwood. Leon county master gardener Terry Keeling will bring a group to help ensure the garden’s success. Others will also be assisting with planting, including Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Dews. The children’s project will benefit the senior citizens and shut-ins in the surrounding areas. Everyone is welcome to participate and should bring garden gloves, tools and help, and donations of tools, gloves and other supplies, as well as seeds and plants, would be appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, or to volunteer or donate, call pastor Larry Allen, director of the non-profit C.H.A.N.G.E. youth center, a part of Spirit of God Ministries, Inc. |
