Lady Eagles to tourney

With victories in area and region quarterfinals games over the past week, the Fairfield Lady Eagles head to the Class AAA, Region III, tournament this weekend at Sam Houston State University.
The Lady Eagles are scheduled to meet Madisonville at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
The Madisonville Lady Mustangs bring a 28-5 record into the game and Fairfield stands at 25-9.
Bullard and Rudder made up the other two teams in the tournament, from which one will advance to state in Austin.
Lady Eagles cagers defeated Livingston Spring Hill in the area playoff game last week and downed the Robinson Rockettes at the region quarterfinal contest Monday evening at Centerville.
FOR THE FIRST TIME since 1997, the Fairfield Eagles claimed an outright district basketball championship. Trophy presentations was made at the conclusion of the District 20-AAA season, a double overtime win against the Brownsboro Bears. The Eagles now advance to the area round of the post season playoffs.
The furthest the Fairfield team has ever advanced is the final game of the region tournament.
Eagles cagers were awaiting the outcome of a bi-district game between Bullard and Rusk before the area matchup can be scheduled. The bi-district game was to be played Tuesday evening.
