Fairfield firm to FIDC park
A Fairfield business will build a new, larger facility soon on land provided by Fairfield Industrial Development Corporation.
Chris Christensen Systems has reached an agreement with FIDC to build a new manufacturing warehouse on 3.6 acres at Fairfield Industrial Park. FIDC will give the land to the business, in return Chris Christensen Systems will provide new jobs for 28 city residents.
Located in Freestone county since 1999, Chris Christensen Systems manufactures high end grooming products for show dogs around the world.
The business was directed to FIDC by an area banker.
Part of the agreement with FIDC stipulates that the business must make a minimum $350,000 investment. FIDC executive Dave Zuber says Christensen will far surpass that figure.
The facility will be about 15,000 square feet and will start with 14 employees. By Dec. 23, 2012, they must add four more jobs, and by Dec. 23, 2016 must employ an additional 10.
"It's good for them, and good for the city, too," Zuber says.
Not only will the business provide employment, but more employees means more business for many Fairfield retail and eating establishments, he points out.
"It also makes Industrial Park more diverse," Zuber says. "It's good to have completely different types of businesses there."
