JIMMY BROWN
Funeral services for Mr. James Manley (Jimmy) Brown Jr., 53, will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 2:00p.m. at First Baptist Church in Teague. Rev. Darrell Beggs and Rev. Kevin Gilmore will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Shanks Cemetery near Kirvin.
Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. He was born in Teague and lived there all his life, graduating with the Teague high school class of 1975.
He married Vicki Johnson on April 12, 1980 and shared almost 30 years together. Mr. Brown loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting. He was known all over the area for carrying on a long Brown family tradition of raising watermelons.
He also raised cattle and sold insurance for many years. Mr. Brown never met a stranger and was a true people person, and was known for being an expert on almost any topic of conversation.
He was a “regular” at Roblow’s and will be missed by the lunch bunch there.
Mr. Brown loved his family very much and was so proud of his children and wanted to do everything with them.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Johnson Brown of Teague; one son, James Manley (J.T.) Brown, III of Ennis; one daughter, Cooper Johnson Brown of Teague; his mother, Peggy Brown of Teague;
One brother, Darrell Brown and wife Dana of Forney; one nephew, Tyler Brown of College Station; two nieces, Kylie Brown and Kyndall Brown both of Forney; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, James Manley Brown, Sr. and his father-in-law, Oscar Smith Johnson.
