An opportunity to meet the firefighters and first responders with Streetman Volunteer Fire Department will be held with a chili supper fundraiser Feb. 27.

New VFD officers are chief Bret Carroll, assistant chief Brian Davis, captain Andy Garcia, lieutenant Heather Davis, treasurer Shae Garcia and secretary Heather Marfell.

Members are Chris Wirtz, Cheryl Clark, Tommy Kelley, Matt Marfell, Kevin Davis, Robert Cockerell and Andrea Marfell.

The chili supper allows community members to meet the crews, who respond to both Freestone and Navarro counties. The members have received many hours of training, with several just completing the Emergency Care Attendant course of First Responder training.

Proceeds of the chili supper help with day to day expenses of the department, as well as keep equipment, supplies and training up to date.

The department is affiliated with SFFMA (State Fireman’s and Fire Marshall’s Association), the governing body for volunteer fire departments.
