Larfette Brown

Funeral services for Larfette Brown, 89, of Tennessee Colony, were held Saturday at Smith Chapel Church of God in Christ in Palestine. Burial was at Jemison Quarter Cemetery in Tennessee Colony. Mr. Brown died Jan. 27.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Freestone county to Bennie and Bertha Turner Brown. He attended school at Pinetop in Freestone county. He accepted Jesus at an early age and was a member of Church of God in Christ at Massey Lake.

A cement finisher for R.C. Buckner in Jacksonville, Mr. Brown married Pearline Bailey on Jan. 17, 1940. The couple had 12 children.

Preceding him in death are three infant children and five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Pearline Brown of Tennessee Colony, sons William (Maxine) of Ft. Worth, George (Elnoria) of Arlington, Delbert (Ann) of Palestine, Mike Brown of Dallas;

Daughters Dorthine (Colton) Sledge of Ft. Worth, Vivian (Wayne) Dawson of Louisiana, Rita (Willie) Elverton of Grand Prairie, Mary (Ken) Dennis of Arlington, Elillian Elverton, Grand Prairie, and Sheila Davis of Tennessee Colony;

Sisters Martha Ingram of Ft. Worth, Doris Johnson of Oklahoma City, sisters-in-law Doris Brown and Reta Morgan;

Twenty-two grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Emanual Funeral Home of Palestine is handling arrangements.
