Wielding a sledgehammer, a burglar gained entry to Dew Truck Stop last week to steal cash and cigarettes.
Entry to the building was gained by knocking a hole in a brick wall at the back of the store, Sheriff Ralph Billings reports.
The break-in occurred early Friday and was discovered by owner Bijavant Bhanot when he opened for business about 5:30 a.m.
Missing is $900 in cash and $110 in cigarettes, the sheriff says.
Billings also notes that similar break-ins have occurred recently at stores in Navarro, Limestone and Anderson counties.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the burglary and working with law enforcement officers from the other counties.
