LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
What we should know about socialism.
What it is: Dictionary definition (Webster’s)
1. Any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
2. A system of society or group living in which there is no private property. A system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.
This author’s definition: Socialism is to economics as communism is to politics. Neither can reach their ultimate goals without the other.
An actual quote from Vladimir Lenin: “The goal of socialism is communism.”
How do we recognize it?
By carefully crafted government euphemisms, not limited to the following but including:
—The Fairness Doctrine (meaning the governmental abolition of free speech, and our First Amendment rights).
—Entitlements (to take from those who earned it and give it to those who didn’t).
—Wealth redistribution (a cornerstone of both socialism and communism).
—Secular progressivism (the abolition of conservative American and Christian values).
—Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) (Control of banking).
—Bailouts (Control of our manufacturing).
—Cap and trade (Control of our energy).
—Healthcare (Control of our very lives).
Where will it lead?
Total control by a tyrannical government and our loss of the freedom and liberties as guaranteed us by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
How to stop it?
Know the issues and vote accordingly. Logan Wilson
