Services were held Tuesday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield for Ruby Metzgar, 89, who died Jan. 17 in Fairfield.

Harry Moore officiated at the service. Interment was at Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Metzgar was born August 29, 1920 in Freestone county to Jim and Mary Ellen Pilcher Myers. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She married Owens Metzgar on Nov. 18, 1939. He preceded her in death in 2000. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Metzgar and wife Mae Dell of Fairfield, grandsons Jarrod Metzgar and wife Heather, and Jason Metzgar and wife Deanna, all of Waco; and great-grandchildren Richard, Raylee, Braedon and Bryson Metzgar.

Pallbearers were James Myers, Charles Myers, Donnie Chappell, F.E. Jones, Clifford Jones and Lee Jones.
