Tech classes start this week
Classes began this week for the 2010 spring semester at the NRG Texas Limestone Electric Generating Station Navarro College Area Technical Center (ATC), however, seats are still available.
The ATC provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to gain employment skills and knowledge through a Power Plant Operations and Maintenance Certificate, an important credential for positions in energy and other industries.
Over two years, students can take 10 courses and earn 30 college hours. NRG provides the classrooms and equipment, and, in partnership with other area industries, pays a portion of qualifying students’ tuition.
Navarro College provides the certified curriculum and college instructors for the classes.
New students this spring will take basic electrical theory and precision tools and measurements. Returning students will take electric motors, motor controls, electrical troubleshooting and industrial equipment maintenance.
Registration is still available for the classes. Contact John Fry at 903- 626-9563 or 281-753- 6407, or email john.fry@nrgenergy.com.
