Diet and Nutrition Resolutions: Each month, we will focus on 12 mustkeep diet and nutrition resolutions. During January, we need to focus on fat because it has the highest concentration of calories, cut down on the fat intake, saturated fats in particular — heavy cream, butter, sour cream, and cream cheese — which elevate LDL (the bad cholesterol), explains Barbara Schmidt, MS, RD, lifestyle specialist at Norwalk Hospital and private practice nutritionist in New Canaan, CT.

In February, we will focus on mapping out your diet.

Wed., Jan. 13 – Fish Fillets, Potato Wedges, Cole Slaw, Hush Puppies, Lemon Pudding

Thur., Jan. 14 – Chicken ‘n Dumplings, Salad, Black-eyed Peas, Bread, Pistachio Salad

Fri, Jan. 15 – Beef Lasagna, Green Beans, Salad, Garlic Bread, Chocolate Pudding w/Topping

Mon, Jan. 18 – Centers closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day

Tues., Jan. 19 – Chef Salad w/Ham and Turkey, Crackers, Yellow Cake w/chocolate icing.
