Candidate asks election support

JANET CHAPPELL JANET CHAPPELL As she seeks re-election to a fifth term of office, District Clerk Janet Chappell takes this opportunity to thank the voters of Freestone county for the confidence shown in her last 15 years.

Mrs. Chappell is filed in the March 2 Democratic Party.

In 1979 she started work in the district clerk’s office as deputy clerk. In the 1994 general election she was elected district clerk and took over the duties Jan. 1, 1995.

Mrs. Chappell and her husband, Gary, are lifelong residents of Freestone county and they have a daughter, Kathleen.

As district clerk, Mrs. Chappell has shown time and again a sincere and general concern for the public and office she was elected to serve.

By attending the annual County and District Clerk’s Seminar at College Station, which is conducted by the V.G. Young Institute of County Government, a part of Texas A&M University, she keeps informed of the changing laws and office procedures. Mrs. Chappell has served as a panel speaker at the seminar for the district clerks round table decisions.

“I have strived to maintain a professional office atmosphere with integrity, and making myself available to the public and diligently serving the judges, district courts and attorneys,” Mrs. Chappell says.

Each day brings new challenges. My staff and I work to assure the duties and responsibilities of the district clerk’s office are accurate and promptly performed.

We work closely with our local county offices, attorney general’s office, Child Protective Services, Secretary of State, Office of Court Administration and the 10th Court of Appeals.

The support of voters and county residents in the past has always been deeply appreciated.

I ask for your support and vote in the March 2, 2010, Democratic Primary for re-election to the office of district clerk.
