General closings set for New Year
Businesses and governmental offices will take at least one day off this week for the New Year’s holiday.
With the exception of convenience stores, restaurants and grocery stores, businesses plan to close Friday. Some businesses may close early on New Year’s Eve.
Freestone county and Fairfield city offices plan to close only on Friday.
Post offices will be closed only on New Year’s Day.
Schools have been closed for two weeks for the Christmas and New Year’s season and are reopening for classes next week.
Fairfield and Wortham students return to classes Monday, while Teague and Dew students do not report until Tuesday. Teachers in Teague and Dew, however, go back to work Monday.
The Fairfield Recorder office will close Friday for New Year’s and reopen for normal business hours Monday morning.
