Clifford Whalen Light
Clifford Whalen Light, 65, of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, December 15 at his residence. Graveside memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Light was born May 19, 1944 in Clifton, Texas to parents William Alonzo Light from Hill county and Willie Mahalia Lovett Light from Lalic in Milam county. He was the youngest child in a large family, and worked as a ranch hand when he was young. He helped Bob Harvey and family breed and raise racehorses, many of which are in the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He worked in Andrews county and broke horses most of his life. Horses were his real passion and he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for more than 30 years. Later in life he worked in construction and pipeline jobs.
Survivors include his wife Carla, children Rickey, Jeannye and Kristi, all of the Hico area; adopted son Charlie of Fairfield, six granddaughters and three grandsons; and a special young couple, Michael and Taylor Boyd, who he cared for deeply and thought of as children and wished to honor.
