Completing math programs pays . . .

FAIRFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL students, under the leadership of teacher Jina Fuller, earned more than $3,300 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital by working on math this month. FAIRFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL students, under the leadership of teacher Jina Fuller, earned more than $3,300 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital by working on math this month. Students at Fairfield elementary school raised $3,300 this month to help kids battling with cancer.

The students participated in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-a-Thon program, earning donations from community members.

“We are very proud of our students for working so hard to raise money for St. Jude through Math-AThon,” teacher Jina Fuller said.

Math-A-Thon allows students to build and practice essential math skills while they raise funds. Teachers serve as volunteer coordinators for Math- A-Thon at their school. Participating students solve math problems in a printed or online Funbook. Students ask family and friends for donations in support of their participation. All donations are sent to St. Jude.

Now in its 30th year, Math-A-Thon is one of America’s largest education based fundraisers. More than 10,000 schools across the country participate in the program.
