Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Rankin, 88, were held Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Darrel Beggs officiated. Interment followed the services at Salem Cemetery near Freestone.

Visitation was Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rankin passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at East Texas Medical Center in Athens. She was born on January 1, 1921, in Freestone to Luther and Mattie Isham and grew up there. She married Headlee Rankin in 1936 and shared almost 50 years together before being separated by his death.

Mrs. Rankin worked for Teague Nursing Home for several years, but her most important job was being a dedicated wife and homemaker for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and making quilts, and she loved her cats and fish.

She is survived by son Doyle Rankin and wife Laurie of Teague, grandson Billy Brown and wife Laurie of Abbott, granddaughter Vikki Brown of Teague, great-grandchildren Chandler Brown, McKenzie Brown, Christopher Brown, and Brandan Brown, brothers Dewey (Buddy) Isham and wife Vera of Amarillo and George (Buck) Isham and wife Dorothy of Phoenix, Arizona, sister Clytee Wanek of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Rankin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; granddaughter Christina Rankin; grandson Bryan Brown, and her special friend, Cater Kennedy.
