FJHS helps at Christmas
FAIRFIELD SCHOOL RESOURCE Officers Glenda Bass and Billy Barlow show off toys they collected for distribution at Christmas. Fairfield junior high school students also held a dance to raise cash and collect canned goods to help area families during the holidays.
Fairfield seventh and eighth grade students helped out needy families in the area with drives for toys and canned goods this Christmas season.
The canned food drive wrapped up last week at the dance held for seventh and eighth grade students.
Fairfield junior high school counselor Lindy Neill reports that students raised $450 along with donations of toys and canned goods.
Each student attending the dance was asked to bring an unwrapped toy, $5 in cash or five cans of food.
Along with the student effort, School Resource Officers Billy Barlow and Glenda Bass held a school district Toys for Tots drive in cooperation with Brookshire Brothers supermarket and Dollar General Store.
The officers have delivered two loads of new toys for distribution to area children this Christmas.
The toy and canned food drives are coordinated through the Angel Tree gift program conducted by churches in Fairfield. Items are distributed through River of Life Church.
