Community National Bank & Trust of Texas has been a part of the Fairfield community for more than 100 years. Formerly known as First National Bank, it began operations on October 5, 1907, as First State Bank of Streetman.
In June of 1923, stockholders voted to convert to a national bank with the name First National Bank. In April of 1973, the bank moved to Fairfield with assets totaling $2.5 million.
When the bank moved to Fairfield it was located in the former Red and White Grocery Building. That building was modified and improved several times over the years. In 2007, the bank moved into its new facility which was constructed behind the original building at 101 N. Mount Street.
In 2001 the holding companies of First National Bank and Corsicana National Bank & Trust merged to form Community Bank Holdings of Texas. This alliance enabled both locally owned banks to combine resources to better serve the communities. In 2008, the banks merged and changed their names to Community National Bank & Trust of Texas with locations in Fairfield, Buffalo, Richland Chambers, Corsicana and Frost.
