FJHS girls win games

Against Athens . . .

Lady Eagles basketball teams at Fairfield junior high school notched three victories in four games last week against the Athens Lady Hornets.

The district games were played at Athens.

The FJHS eighth grade A quintet took the Lady Hornets to task early with a 14-4 first period lead and 25-5 advantage at intermission.

Fairfield cagers added 12 points in each of the second half periods, giving up just seven, to claim a 49-12 win.

“We ran the fast break well tonight and our press is really coming along,” coach Brandy Lynch reports. “I’m proud of the girls for playing so well as a team tonight.”

Scoring in double digits were Tiara Tatum, 19 points, and Karonesha Lowery, 11.

Also scoring were: Peyton Pierce, 8; Amber Williams, 2; Taylor Gray, 2; Bree Bossier, 2; Madison Alexander, 2; Kendell Emmons, 2; and Kayli Banks, 1.

Top rebounders were Misses Emmons and Tatum, and the best hustlers were Misses Williams, Lowery and Pierce.

Fairfield eighth grade B cagers buried Athens by a 25-6 score.

“The girls played great. We’re tightening up as a group, but I’m proud of the girls and look forward to our next game,” coach Lia Frederick says.

Scoring for the Lady Eagles were: Megan Hodges, 8; Kamry Whitehead, 6; Carla Shamblin, 4; Brianne Faughn, 3; Katie Chambers, 2; and Sherry Hancock, 2.

Best hustlers were Misses Whitehead, Hodges and Shamblin.

The FJHS seventh grade A squad beat the Lady Hornets handily 36-14.

Reaching double digits with 12 points each were Caitlynn Stone and Allie Edwards.

Also scoring were: Hannah Spradlin, 4; Sarie Hill, 2; Susan Owens, 2; Kayosha Bass, 2; and Jaida Smith, 2.

Best hustlers were Misses Stone and Edwards.

Fairfield seventh grade B cagers fell to Athens in a low scoring contest 8-10.

Scoring for the Lady Eagles were: Abbie Judd, 4; and Justice Oates, 4.
