Jody Chapman

Jody Chapman, 82, of Wortham, passed away December 3, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 5, at Porter Chapel in Wortham, with Reverend Tom Prentiss officiating.

Interment followed at Cade Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at the chapel.

Mr. Chapman was born on July 27, 1927 in Richland, Texas to Jess and Mary Crook Chapman. He was the past owner and employee of Wortham Oilfield for more than 60 years, as well as operating his own ranch. He was an avid coon hunter and loved telling jokes and pulling pranks.

Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his parents and a son, DeWayne Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Liddie Chapman; daughter in-law, Gwen Chapman of Fairfield;

Grandson, Larry Chapman and wife, Cheree’ of Wortham; granddaughter, Ginger Self and husband, David of Coolidge; and four great grandchildren, Cole and Lexi Chapman of Wortham and MaKenzie & Bo Hunter Self of Coolidge.

Pallbearers were Authur Busby, Sr., Authur (Chunky) Busby, Jr., Michael Dunn, Paul Dunn, John Stubbs and Willie Warren. Honorary pallbearers were George Patterson and Paul White.
