6 vehicles crash at once
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers in Freestone county worked a relatively mild Thanksgiving holiday, investigating just seven wrecks from Wednesday through Sunday.
Most noteworthy of the accidents involved six cars Sunday afternoon south of Fairfield on I-45.
Trooper Michael Adams, who worked the wreck, reports that there were no injuries in the pileup and that only one vehicle was unable to be driven away.
Involved in the pile-up were:
—Kia Sorento driven by Lacresha Shunell Durham, 23, of Dallas;
—Mazda 3 driven by Matthew Vincent Hess, 22, of Houston;
—Dodge Stratus driven by Kelsey Ann Robinson, 18, of Arlington;
—Nissan Murano driven by Thomas Preston Morrison, 67, of Houston;
—Kia Spectra driven by Toby Glenn Fruge, Jr., 21, of Oklahoma;
—Toyota Corolla driven by Ryan Patrick Bassham, 24, of College Station.
Adams reports all six vehicles were southbound on the interstate when Durham braked for slower traffic in front of her.
Hess, in the second car, also tried to slow but was struck in the rear by the Robinson vehicle, causing it to hit the Durham car.
That is three cars involved.
The Nissan driven by Morrison then hit the Robinson vehicle in the rear, Fruge attempted to change lanes to the left, where the pile-up was building, and struck the Morrison vehicle.
Lastly, the Toyota driven by Bassham veered right to try and avoid the other vehicles, but hit the Fruge car.
Adams issued Robinson a ticket for following too closely and Fruge tickets for failure to control speed and for making an unsafe lane change.
The only vehicle unable to drive away under its own power was the Dodge driven by Robinson, which sustained damage front and rear.
