This week is National Nurse Practitioners Week, and Texas Governor Rick Perry has signed a proclamation citing the work that nurse practitioners do.

Among the nurse practitioners in Fairfield are Cheryl Roberts RN, MSN, FNPC and Lisa Wehe RN, MSN, FNPC at 1st Physicians Clinic, ETMC Fairfield, associated with Dr. Orms, delegating physician for nurse practitioners, as well as Drs. Keller, Berger and Kerbacher.

Nurse practitioners have graduate, advanced education and clinical training beyond the registered nurse's education. Most have master's degrees and many have doctorates.

They provide certain healthcare services similar to those of a doctor, from treating illness to advising patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
