A benefit dinner and dance is set next Saturday night at the VFW post in Fairfield, and will help the family of Brandy Elliott Carswell pay for medical expenses.

Mrs. Carswell, 34, suffered a brain aneurysm in August, had brain surgery, and was confined to ETMC Tyler for an extended stay. While she is home recovering, she did not have health insurance, and the medical bills are mounting.

Wife of John Carswell, the couple have two boys, ages 12 and 13, who attend Fairfield ISD. Mrs. Carswell is the daughterin law of Robert and Diana Willis, and the granddaughter of Jeff and Arlene Smart.

The fundraiser will begin with dinner from 6 to 8 p.m., and the dance will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight or 1 a.m. The Eddie Roberts Band of Tyler will perform. Price is $15 per couple, or $8 for individuals.

Anyone wanting to make a donation can contact Jeff or Arlene Smart at 903-389-2658 or go by 323 Wood Street in Fairfield.
