Man calls from FCR-441, just shot a wild hog that was acting strange, wobbling around for 40 minutes. Can hogs get rabies? Yes, you bet….Just read that classic book by Fred Gipson called Old Yeller….Walt Disney made the book into a movie by the same name which spawned two more sequels….The gist of the story was Old Yeller was the most faithful, dependable dog on the Texas Frontier…..but got bitten by a rabid animal, I believe a hog, saving the main character, Travis, from death…..Yeller then came down with rabies and Travis had to shoot him…..That is a terrible condensation of a wonderful story….But there it is…..Yep, hogs can be rabid. As a matter of fact, probably ANY warm-blooded mammal is susceptible, bats, skunks, cats, you name it….

Had a phone call from Patsy Stark. Patsy is proud of her son, Anthony, who is now serving 10 miles out of Baghdad, Iraq, as a machine gunner on a Black Hawk helicopter. She is very pleased and proud that her son is involved in national security….. and I might add, as we ALL are. Our world has changed particularly since September 11th, 2001. I know that all Americans are equally proud of this entire group of young people, standing in the forefront, that we back home can enjoy our freedom.

To Teague for Bi-Stone Antique Tractor Club show. Cloggers, musicians, old tractors, a big time had by all. The weather really didn't cooperate which I believe kept some from bringing their tractors. There was one pair who came all the way from Ohio. If you grew up around Poppin' Johnnies and Farmalls, and didn't make it over, you missed something. Nostalgia was the theme of the day. Green and red were the colors that predominated. Just so all know….we'll take folks with tractors of other colors, too….Orange, gray, blue, you name it. DPS Thornton and Zotz to accident, FCR- 941, turns out to be probable vehicle involved earlier at Love's in problem, car apparently was taken without owner's knowledge, now wrecked, but owner first wants to file charges, but when finds out son is involved, does not.
