Wet road wrecks FPD patrol car
A wet roadway is blamed for a crash early Tuesday morning of a Fairfield Police Department patrol car driven by Cpl. James Green.
The officer was taken to East Texas Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and released.
The wreck occurred at 4:23 a.m. in the 500 block of E. Commerce Street where there is a curve in the road.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Adams, who investigated the wreck, reports that Green was westbound when his patrol car hydroplaned on the wet street in a curve of the street.
The patrol car veered off the road to the right, grazing a mailbox and hitting a utility pole head-on, snapping the pole.
Adams reports that the road was closed until electric lines that dropped onto the road were cleared.
Green was taken to ETMC by Fairfield EMS.
