FJHS spikers split decisions
Lady Eagles volleyball players at Fairfield junior high school split decisions evenly down the middle last week when they met the Brownsboro Lady Bears.
Matches were played at Brownsboro.
In eighth grade A action, the Lady Eagles won the first game 25-22, dropped the second 21-25, and took the third 15-8 to claim a victory.
"We started the game a little rusty, but they found their groove and made a few key plays," coach Lia Frederick says. "Brownsboro put up a good fight."
"Congrats to my girls for finishing them off," she adds.
Best hustlers in the match were Bree Bossier, Tiara Tatum and Sam Walls, and most consistent servers were Kendell Emmons, Kayli Banks and Breanne Faughn.
The eighth grade B team played well but could not pull out a win, falling in two games 21-25, 16-20.
Best hustlers were Noheli Montez and Taylor Thorne, and most consistent servers were Sherry Hancock, Kerry Ashley and Brookelynn Childs.
The FJHS seventh grade A team also fell to Brownsboro in two games 19-25, 23-25.
"Our serve-receive looked good tonight, we just need to continue working on our communication on the court," coach Brandy Lynch says.
"Our girls played hard tonight and came up a little short," she adds.
Best hustlers were Jessica Jones and Allie Edwards, and most consistent servers were Caitlyn Stone and Brooke Johnson.
Lady Eagles seventh grade B spikers beat Brownsboro 25-21.
Best hustlers were Jesse Jones, Shaguera Means and Brittany Wilcoxen.
