Business reopens under new owner

Capps Memorial Chapel, which has served Fairfield since 1950, reopened last week after being closed for several months.

The reopening is under the new ownership of Joe McKibbin, who operates funeral homes in Waxahachie, Ennis and Italy.

Managing Capps, located at 113 E. College Street, is David Fox, who has more than 35 years in the funeral home business and comes to Fairfield from the Waco and Marlin area where he worked the past 16 years.

Fox is a native of Amarillo, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and is a Shriner, Mason and member of the American Legion.

He worked at funeral homes in Amarillo and Vernon, and owned a funeral home in Panhandle before moving to the Waco area.

Outside work he plays golf and formerly played trombone in the Shrine band and in Christian, dance and community bands.

Fox is at Capps Memorial Chapel fulltime, and the business is offering a full line of services, including preplanning consultation, monuments and prepaid funeral services.

Families who prepaid with Capps in the past will have those plans honored, as well as plans from other funeral homes.
