Felony charges draw indictments

A dozen of the 18 felony criminal indictments returned by the Freestone county grand jury are on drug related charges.

The grand jury met at the end of August for its regular monthly session at the courthouse in Fairfield.

Charges on which action was taken include possession of methamphetamine, aggravated assault, driving while intoxicated, manufacture or delivery of cocaine, intoxication assault, possession of cocaine, DWI with a child passenger, tampering with physical evidence, manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine and burglary.

Indicted by the grand jury are:

—Troy Zommer, 40, of Fairfield on a June 23 complaint of possession of methamphetamine.

—Joseph Meachum, 42, of Teague on a July 11 charge of aggravated assault, allegedly striking Matthew Potillo in the head with his hand.

—Johnny Van Whitmire, 43, of Mexia on a charge of felony DWI on July 18. The indictment shows three prior DWI convictions.

—Dennis Oatman, 31, of Teague on a June 26 charge of manufacture or delivery of cocaine.

—Darlene Oatman, 40, of Teague on a June 26 charge of manufacture or delivery of cocaine.

—Thomas Lee Kirvin, 21, of Teague on a June 23 complaint of intoxication assault.

—George Abbott, 22, of Wortham on a complaint of possession of cocaine on June 16. Abbott pleaded guilty to the charge and has been assessed five years deferred probation and $1,000 fee, and ordered to make $2,140 restitution.

—Carlos Maldonado, 30, of Garland on a June 6 charge of DWI with a child passenger.

—David Lynn Hancock, 52, of Teague on a complaint of possession of cocaine on June 19.

—Kevin Krumm, 38, of Dallas on a charge of possession of methamphetamine on June 17.

—Rebecca Martin, 27, of Dallas on a charge of possession of methamphetamine on June 17.

—Bryan Brady, 47, of Mexia on a July 29 complaint of possession of methamphetamine.

—Michael Wayne Harper, 38, of Fairfield on a charge of tampering with physical evidence on July 22, allegedly ingesting suspected cocaine during a traffic stop.

—Kimberly Keel, 28, of Teague on a charge of manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine on July 10.

—Tony Jerome Scott, 46, of Teague on a charge of manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine.

—Joe Allen Perkins, 56, of Fairfield on a July 25 charge of manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine.

—Felipe Angel Gaitan III, 30, of Fairfield on a charge of manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine on July 25.

—Billy Joe Haney, 26, of Buffalo on a July 9 complaint of burglary of a building of Charles Emmitte.

One indictment remains sealed pending arrest of the defendant.
