Funeral services for Mr. Bob (Big Boy) Crowell were held Monday, August 3, 2009, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart officiatec. Interment followed the services at Cotton Gin Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday with the family present at the funeral home.

Mr. Crowell passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at his residence near Teague. He was born and raised in Arcadia, Louisiana. He married Gayle Mathews on April 3, 1959 and shared over fifty years together. Mr. Crowell was a heavy equipment operator for all of his working life. He loved music and to socialize, enjoyed his many "back porch" gatherings, and was known as everybody's Papaw. Mr. Crowell was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Crowell of Teague; four sons, Anthony Crowell and wife Jennifer of Baton Rouge, LA., Tim Stricklin and wife Charlotte of Minden, LA., Michael Crowell and Steven (Bub) Crowell, both of Teague; two daughters, Teri Black and Christi Hill and husband Heath, all of Teague; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; countless other children that knew him as "Papaw"; one brother, Garland (Buddy) Crowell and wife Margie of Jamestown, LA.; one sister, Betty Jones and husband Bill of Homer, LA.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Crowell was preceded in death by his parents, Kennon & Leola Crowell; and one grandson, Justin Ridge.
