FISD plans training for substitutes

2009-08-06 / News

Fairfield Independent School District is looking for eager substitute teachers over the age of 21 who want to work with students in pre kindergarten through 12th grade.

Anyone interested is invited to attend a substitute teacher training session Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Fairfield high school north lecture room.

Attendees are asked to park in the lot west of the administration building and enter the northeast side of the building.

Training covers Fairfield policies, substitute procedures, curriculum, instruction and discipline management. Training is free and takes about three hours.

Substitute teachers who have already attending the training need not attend again.

A criminal history check and fingerprinting will be required.

New applicants must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, and have received substitute training.

Anyone who previously has worked as an FISD substitute teacher is asked to let school secretaries know if they wish to work during the 2009-10 term.

Questions about substitute teaching can be answered by contacting assistant superintendent Sheila Dove at the FISD administration office.
