PATRICK TITUS, MD PATRICK TITUS, MD Funeral services have been held for Patrick Anthony Titus, MD, who died March 22.

Dr. Titus was born in Savanna La Mar, Jamaica, the only child of the late Stanley Patrick Titus and the late Hildred Agatha Beagle.

He attended Howard University in Washington, DC and earned his medical degree from the College of Medicine in 1953.

Internship and medical residency training in obstetrics and gynecology were served at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Titus began his medical practice in Houston in 1960, retiring after 35 years.

He practiced part-time with the City of Houston for several years, and for nine years he practiced in Crockett, a medically under-served area, where he operated a 12-bed hospital. The Black Baptists of Texas were instrumental in his decision to serve in that capacity.

A member of the National Medical Association for more than 40 years, Dr. Titus was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for almost 50 years.

He was the family historian and identified the names of more than 1,000 family members going back almost 200 years.

Dr. Titus was very active, walking five miles a day for the last 15 years, as well as participating in several Senior Olympics, winning three silver and two bronze medals. He also had a love of music, particularly big band and jazz, and played music on the weekends for his entire neighborhood.

With a passion for reading history and politics, his discussions on World War II made listeners believe he was there. Very interested in WWII, Dr. Titus made three trips to Paris, although he could not speak the language. He was knowledgeable on many subjects.

He is survived by his wife Maxie Marie Titus, sons Las Celles Titus, Stanley Patrick Titus II (Marleni), Dr. Patrick A. Titus ( Natalie), and Dr. Robert Titus (Miriam) and daughter Sherita Michelle Titus, several grandchildren, four great-granddaughters and many other family members and friends.
