Fairfield high school freshman student Taylor Sharp showcases his musical talent this week as one of the performers selected to practice and record a single as a member of the Kidd Kraddick Kidd Rock Band.

Sharp, 14, is in Los Colinas this week working on the single with teachers from the nationally franchised Paul Green School of Rock.

The musicians will record an original single at the end of the week and perform in a live concert Friday at the Canal in Los Colinas.

Rehearsals can be viewed this week on a live webcast.

Sharp sent in a YouTube video to audition for a spot in the rock band, was called for a live audition last Thursday, returned for a final audition Sunday and reported for rehearsal Monday.

The Kidd Kraddick band consists of musicians ages 8-14. Working with the band is internet musical phenomenon Justin Beiber.

The FHS student has played with the high school jazz band for two years, on the drums as a seventh grade student and on guitar this past year.

He started playing guitar about 18 months ago and plays baritone in the regular school band.

Sharp is the son of Kerrisa and Gary Nichols of Streetman and Mike Sharp of Penelope, and is the grandson of Kris Ivy.
