Sheriff's Report Number 444- FEMs to Moody Street, someone fell, struck head. Leon Co. S.O. advised of 911 Call to us from US-79, trailer lost load on roadway. Inmate with braces busts lip when slipped on floor, to hospital, stitches. 90 year old calls from S. Bateman, power outage due to a blown transformer, suffering greatly from the heat….Brought to Jail Lobby where cooler…..A little Iced Tea and air conditioning perked him up. Wortham and Mexia FD's both to grassfire on S. 14.
DPS intercepts Hit and Run Driver from accident in Navarro County, has same follow him back to Navarro…..And, I suppose the best comment I might make, and the most pertinent, I will rely upon my very limited knowledge of musical themes for old time TV shows…..I refer to Jack Webb's Dragnet from many years ago……Dum…., De, Dum, Dum!
FEMS to 87 year old, difficulty breathing, on Faircrest. FPD to Dairy Queen, threats about a body bag. TPD to Rail Yard, vandals pulling out the connecting pins between rail cars.. Frequent Flyer with FCSO now calling FPD, threatening to pull his heart out in front of them "so everybody will be satisfied." Deputy Richard McGowan arrests young man and woman on Warrants on Chumney. Electric troubles with wires in tree start fire on Lazy Way, Fairfield VFD and Oncor both to same.
FEMS and Dew VFD to FCR-280, Lady fell, needs to go to hospital. THDEMS to same type of call, FCR-523, Wildwood. Say folks, we're having a hot, dry summer and we seem to have a larger than normal number of people, mostly older folks, who are falling. Let's keep an eye on one another, drink plenty….I mean PLENTY, of water, dress cool. And remember, that yard doesn't have to be weedeated and mowed during the hot part of the day. Take it easy….in the shade, by the fan or under that air conditioning unit.
Man turns self in at Jail to Dep. Rick Howerton on Felony Warrant. FPD Green and Utsey to dispute over rental property, West Commerce. TPD Sykora to report of kids throwing rocks and bricks on top of Pavillion. FEMS to New Zion Church, FM-1580, Lady passed out. THDEMS to FCR-822, Lady with bad pain. Dew VFD, FEMS, DPS PUTZ and Deputy Shipley to Mile 189, rollover. 24 year old out of control on Huckaby, FPD Green to same.
Wortham VFD and Mexia EMS to S. 3rd, low blood sugar. Wortham Firefighters also to N. Ave. D, grassfire. FPD to house burglary on West Main. Deputy Robertson to/from Collin and Lamar Counties, prisoner transport. Man who claimed a few days ago of being robbed, assaulted, cash stolen, kidnapped, etc…..Now in Jail. Confessed that he lied about all of it to cover the fact that he was drunk and wrecked his own vehicle. What's he in Jail for? False Report To Police Officer. He wasted many hours of officer's time.
FEMS meets Greyhound Bus on IH-45, passenger unresponsive. Oakwood VFD assists with finding elderly man walking in the Trinity River Bottom. He wasn't lost. He was just out for a stroll to reminisce…..He'd logged all that country in days gone by during his youth. Armed Robbery at CEFCO in Wortham, WPD Officers to same.
Bobcat reported in yard on Fairway. DWI jailed by Deputy House, Old 75. Dep. Willis transports subject to DePaul on Mental Commitment. TPD Reed to Poplar, Family Troubles. TPd Sykora jails young man, two baggies of Mary Jane. Dep. Robert Willis books man in, Hot Checkin' Warrant. DPS Adams and Zotz, FEMS and Fairfield VFD to accident, FM-488 at FM-2570. Dirt bike reported stolen, FCR- 1095. Rental company on US- 84 burglarized, Dep. Howerton and Diana Willis to same, truck and computer missing.
Overhead powerline slapping trees, making sparks, S. Bateman, Fairfield VFD and Oncor to same. Deputies Diana Willis and Rick Howerton to Family Troubles, FCR-521. Mother in Teague reports son just took a pill, now acting like a drunk, Dep. Willis and Shipley, TPD Solly to same. Man on Lubbock in Streetman comes home for lunch, 4-Wheeler missing. FEMS to severe back pain, FCR-161. Man turns self in/booked into Jail on Warrant by Dep. Howerton.
Teague man calls with an age old complaint……Wife has the money and won't let him have it!.....TPD Solly to same.
That Donnie Farris is one smooth operator….Mechanics all day….Cooks all night. Her Honor, the Judge (JP Theresa Farris) has smooth got him talked into the art of baking. I had a sample of his homemade Peach Pound Cake…..Just like Campbell's Soup…..M'mmm, m'mmm good! Wonder how he is on biscuits?
Call comes in from Fair Grounds, three kids in tree when it fell, Fairfield VFD to same. Deputies to rural residence on report two men had forced their way into a residence, started beating boyfriend. The other party told just the opposite. Deputy Willis to heated verbal problems between two parties, Shanks.
Man calls, distraught, has had troubles with the love of his life for the past year. No, he didn't want an ambulance. No, he said nothing about taking his own life…..But did say he just wanted to die……Well, we try never to assist with that thought….But say Sport, life is too short just to wish it away like that…..Horsefeathers. Get on with living. You can't mope around for another year. Put a smile on your mug and get back in the mainstream. You weren't put on this earth to mope, you were put here to live. So do that. Start now! A good smile on your face will put one on the Good Man Up Above!
Overhead line down, East 84. DPS Conner to accident, FM-1366. TPD Noll and Martin to report of fight fixing to break out at Teague City Pool. Report comes in from Teague on scam involving grants, claimed to be through the U.S. Government…..Of course, you have to send them $99.00 first…..Don't fall for it. Give them no information nor money. Whoever heard of somebody offering to give you money for free….But you have to give them money first?
DPS Conner, Deputies Willis and Aldrich, THDEMS and Donie VFD to accident, Hwy. 164. FPD Kindon to troubles between man and Lady's son on West Commerce. Report of horse stolen, FM-1367, the rope is still there, so must be stolen…..Called back, Horse's middle name is Houdini, horse recovered, must have slipped out of the rope, knot came loose or something, horse home again. Deputy Aldrich assists Lady not strong enough to loosen the lug nuts on her flat tire, IH- 45.
The Teague Rodeo Parade kicked off with a long Parade down the middle of town on a very, hot Thursday evening at 6PM. A very orderly group. Cheerleaders, musicians, 4- Wheelers, fire engines, antique tractors, floats, bicycles and horses. The heat had an effect on everybody but it was a fun event. Of course, the Annual Teague 4th of July Rodeo was the next act and as always it was fun-filled before a packed house. Deputies assist with security at both.
Lady unresponsive in Dew, 911 call occasioned FEMS, Dep. Robert Willis and Dew VFD to scene. Robert was first to arrive and started CPR. Unfortunately his efforts were in vain. Generally it's cows out, but today it was all horses, various locations. Dry weather, bad fences and absentee owners. Not a good combination. Animal calls increasing weekly. DPS Etzler jails motorist, Mile 210, Mary Jane.
Had warned about a Scam involving COLLECT PHONE CALLS FROM HARRIS COUNTY JAIL some time back. Had two complaints on it yesterday…..One of the complaining parties my wife! She received three calls, same day. If you get them, refuse the collect call. They're just trying to get in your pocketbook. Lady calls from Fairfield, someone is just outside in her bushes. Shhhh! Shhhh! Don't want them hear me…..Oh, Heavens! Never mind, it's just a family of 'coons! Yes Ma'am.
Rotten egg smell reported from gas well, FCR-841, gas company sending someone to check. Property dispute, FCR- 1095. Another stray horse, FCR-611. Man on 4-Wheeler runs Stop Sign, FCR-1171, nearly hits a Lady. Loose cow, Ward Prairie, put back in fence by Dep. Shaw. DPS Putz to accident, US-287. Deputy Robertson to/from Dawson County, prisoner transport.
Southern Oaks VFD and FEMS to Fisherman's Point, daughter just bitten by something, don't know what, now having breathing troubles. Deputy Harrison writes 11 tickets to 6 underage drinkers in two different locations. Southern Oaks VFD to fire close to boat dock, Kingswood Estates. Also another, FCR- 196.
Horses, heat, wild cows and lots of palavering and visiting by the observers all three nights of the Annual Teague Fourth of July Rodeo. As always, the performance went off without a hitch, much enjoyed by one and all. Pickup man Danny Clyde Turner gets everybody to their feet as he went down in the Wild Cow Milking, but he came out quick. A well-behaved, orderly gathering. Had a good visit with lots of people present, but really got a kick visiting with Scott Glick, comparing notes on hand milking a cow!
FEMS and Butler VFD to FM-489, Lady in Labor……Better hurry, guys, contractions reported as one minute apart! DPS Purnell arrests motorist, East 84, Controlled Substance. To be precise, mushrooms. TPD Sykora gets another, Possession of Mary Jane, S. 5th. FPD Warren jails motorist on S. Fairway, Hood County Warrant.
Deputy Cory House on FCR-961, attempts to stop a Dodge pickup, driver runs, wrecks into a pipe fence. A baggie of Meth found in the seat. In Jail now, Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest. Streetman VFD to persistent grassfire, FM-416. TPD Howard locates vehicle reported stolen, guilty party was locked in room. When started out of house, grabbed a knife, stuck it to his own throat, threatened to cut his own goozle. Officer grabs his arm, the fight was on. Pepper Sprayed. In Jail now…..Unauthorized Use of a Mtr. Vehicle, Assault on Public Servant. He's caused lots of troubles in the past, far too much of it for his own relatives.
TPD Officers to Assault Family Violence on Adams. Man whipped up on female. Resisted arrest, spat on the Officers during transport. Brought to Jail on three charges by TPD Noll. Motor oil thrown into the pool, Southern Oaks. DPS, FEMS and Streetman VFD to accident, North 75. DPS Putz arrests driver, Mile 203, Hot Checkin' and Child Support Troubles out of Bexar and Dallas Counties.
Two Deputies involved a total of 38 hours in trying to get crazy woman admitted into MHMR facility. I've written before that MHMR has undergone many changes through the year, lack of funding is the problem. Our Deputies have better things to do than be involved this number of hours just to get a mentally unbalanced individual into a facility!
TPD Howard to report of missing newspaper racks. Deputies Willis and Aldrich arrest drunk poair of brothers in Rest Area, IH-45, both drunk, one urinating in public in front of car with load of small kids. While coming to Jailhouse, one threatens Deputy Aldrich. In Jail now, two charges apiece. Deputies Shaw, Willis and House observe vehicles in driveway of business on Service Road, looks suspicious…..Possible Burglary? Nope, but they did go to Jail for Marijuana.
WPD to Husband/Wife Troubles on S. Ave. B. Husband wants to leave, but she has all of his money and won't give it to him. DPS Zotz arrests female motorist, Mile 199, Harris County Hot Checkin' Warrant. Not to be outdone, DPS Putz arrests DWI, Mile 201.
Observant Lady gets license plate of strange vehicle parked in her driveway when she arrived home, Streetman, had suffered a theft just a few days before. Transport Officers with prisoners breaks down, IH-45, assisted by Deputies and DPS Adams. DEW VFD, FEMS and DPS to accident, Mile 187. Wortham Lady reports being chased by a dog on San Saba. Teague City Worker to bad water leak, N. 5th.
Welp, between the Rodeos, Parade, and National Holiday, it was a busy week in the County. I hope everyone had a pleasurable 4th of July, and took the time to Give Thanks for those who went before us….and made it possible that our Nation might have this day and date to celebrate annually. God Bless the memory of every one of them. Next week is the Dogan Alumni Gathering, the next will be the Ike Carden Rodeo…..
