FAIRFIELD VFD Ladies Auxiliary members include, front l-r, Esther DeAnda, Twila Lyles, Rosa Brown and Nena Price, and back l-r, Shelly Lyles, Becca Lyles, Shelly Baxter and Christen Brown. Ladies Auxiliary of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department will host a pancake supper July 17, with proceeds used to purchase items needed by fire department volunteers.

"We have been asked to supply water for the firemen to drink when out on a call," says auxiliary president Shelly Baxter. "We also help the firemen during Fire Prevention Week."

The women's group has had several bake sales, but the pancake supper will be their first big fundraiser.

Organized in August of last year, the auxiliary is a small group of volunteers who each have a loved one who volunteers as a fireman.

"We are a small group, but we hope to keep growing in the future. We are always looking for new members," Mrs. Baxter notes. "Anyone with time and ideas to help the department is invited to our meetings held the first Thursday of each month at the Fairfield fire station."

Members include Christen Brown, Shelly Baxter, Becca Lyles, Shelly Lyles, Nena Price, Rosa Brown, Twila Lyles, Esther DeAnda, Peggy Hughes and Lorie Spearman.

The pancake supper will be held Friday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the "green barn" at the Moody Reunion Grounds.

Tickets cost $5 each and can be purchased in advance by calling 903- 388-4565 or 903-389- 6746. Tickets will also be available at the door.

"Our firemen work hard as a volunteer group serving the community of Fairfield," Mrs. Baxter points out. "They put their lives in danger every time they go out on a call. It's our hope that everyone will support the Fairfield auxiliary, so that we can support our firemen."
